Biography
In Irish mythology, the Banshee is a messenger from another world. The four musicians of The Banshies felt the need to form their own ensemble to create a safe space that allows them to experiment freely. They focus on communication and listening, abolishing any sense of hierarchy.
In The Banshies, no instrument is king: violins accompany the cello or harpsichord and step back for a solo cello piece. Their world is built on friendship, shared passions, diverse cultures, and the music, literature, and visual arts that inspire them.

A concert like a story
Their concerts always follow a guiding thread: telling a story through music. Each program is crafted like a journey, seamlessly blending great Baroque repertoire with traditional melodies and transcriptions.
They also enjoy adapting their programs to suit different audiences. With « Let Thy Charms », their English music program with mezzo-soprano, they explore various interpretations—instrumental, without harpsichord, as a string trio, or even as a violin duo—offering a fresh perspective on the same musical narrative.

Biography
Beginnings and musical training
Born in Nantes to Iranian parents, Roxana grew up surrounded by the whispers of the Atlantic Ocean and the poetry of Persian poetry. Her musical universe took a decisive turn when she discovered early music thanks to training with Amandine Beyer. This encounter changed the way she perceived the violin and led her to explore new sounds.
Professional experience and performances
During her modern violin master's degree at the CNSMDP with Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, Roxana enrolled in Christophe Robert's historical violin class. She joined the prestigious Les Arts Florissant ensemble, performing in the most renowned halls in the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Roxana also plays with renowned ensembles, including Le Poème Harmonique, Cappella Mediterranea and Le Concert Spirituel. With three years of experience as a quartet player with the Mona Quartet, she naturally continued her career as a chamber musician in early music. She can be found regularly on stage with ensembles such as Le Consort, Jupiter and Les Ombres. As first violin, she collaborated with the Il Caravaggio ensemble and performed as a soloist with Le Concert de la Loge.
Musical philosophy and instrument
For Roxana, music is a huge playground. She never stops exploring and does not hesitate to venture into traditional and improvised music. Biography
Beginnings and musical training
Born in France, Yaoré Talibart discovered the violin at the age of four. Her early experimentation with the instrument grew alongside her development as a violinist, allowing her to explore a vast repertoire within various chamber ensembles. She graduated with a Master’s degree from the Conservatoire de Paris, where she studied with Philippe Graffin, before continuing her studies with Rainer Schmidt at the Hochschule in Basel. In 2021, she moved to London to deepen her knowledge of early music, specializing in baroque violin and historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music with Pavlo Beznosiuk and Rachel Podger. During this time, she also developed a passion for Scottish and Irish traditional music, joining the folk-inspired group Nobody’s Jig.
Professional experience and performances
A versatile violinist, equally at home in baroque and modern repertoire, Yaoré collaborates with ensembles such as Le Concert Spirituel, Les Ombres, Le Poème Harmonique, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Barokksolistene, and Le Consort, with whom she recorded three albums. In 2022, she was selected for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Experience Scheme and joined the UK-based ensemble Arcangelo as a New Ensemblist, contributing to several recordings. She regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician, notably with Les Nouveaux Caractères, and has appeared as a soloist in the UK, including a debut at Wigmore Hall alongside Lawrence Power as part of his Collegium project. Since 2017, she has also been the concertmaster of Orchestre Appassionato, performing both in orchestral and solo settings.
Musical philosophy and instrument
With her dual French and Hong Kong heritage, Yaoré grew up intimately aware of the concept of the duality of self, expressed through language, sound, and non-verbal communication. This naturally led her to a life centered on chamber music, which remains the most vital of all musical means of expression for her—a space for dialogue and exchange where sound becomes a language beyond words. She plays on a Nicola Amati baroque violin from 1662 and a Martin Haupt modern violin made in 2017, both generously loaned by the Boubo-Music Foundation.
